Villa Marulli is a youthful work by the architect Francesco Tamburini. Born in Ascoli Piceno in 1848, he graduated in Engineering at Bologna and then moved to Argentina in 1883, where he was appointed Inspector General of National Architecture. Among his works are the headquarters of the Provincial Bank of Cordòba, the extension of the Casa Rosada, the central military hospital and the project of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Following the Revolution, which broke out in Buenos Aires, in 1890 he lost all his wealth and never returned to Italy.Villa Marulli was commissioned in 1881 by Gustavo Marulli, a wealthy owner of Chiaravalle, to be his private residence. After a series of vicissitudes, in 1907 it was purchased for 20,000 lire by the Municipality which made its seat until 1972 and now houses the municipal library. In the design of this beautiful villa is evident his taste of Tamburini for monumental and Palladian art. The facade is rectangular, elongated, and the raised entrances are placed in the center of each side. The style is eclectic, from the late nineteenth century. The central tower was built later, around 1920 and houses the clock. In the interior rooms the ceilings are decorated according to the taste of the time with the superposition of motifs and elements belonging to different cultural movements in pure eclectic style. You can find evocations of the Renaissance, neo-Renaissance and decorations typical of the Baroque and the future Liberty. In the entrance hall, in the central panel is represented Urania, muse of the aristocracy, with her angelic putto. In the medallions on the sides, navy with floral and golden frames. Angels, Cupid, Dancing female figures , plant and floral motifs, geometric decorations that recall fabrics and elegant colors welcome visitors in both the first and second floor rooms. Today the Palazzina houses on the second floor the municipal library dedicated to Massimo Ferretti, while on the first floor there is the children’s library dedicated to Francesco Piumini.
